DAYS SINCE WE BEGAN THE BARGAINING PROCESS. WE ARE UNITED AND WE WILL MAKE CHANGE.

Air Canada iPhone Pickup

The Union had a meeting with the Company to go over the distribution of the new iPhone for Mainline members on Monday this week.

One of the questions sought from the Union was how the members will be compensated for this pickup.

The Company took this away.

Today we had a further discussion with the Company and they will get back with information prior to the launch July 6, 2026.

Members that have signed up and those that are in the process of signing up will have any decision applied equally, meaning, any pay credits attached to the pickup of the device will be applicable to all in the same manner.

We will ensure we share any further information on this front in a timely manner once we have further information brought to us from the Employer.

Have You Been Reassigned Because Your Awarded Flight(s) Were Moved from Mainline To Rouge or from Rouge to Mainline?

The Union has become aware of situations where Mainline Flight Attendants have had awarded pairings coded as “cancelled” and subsequently been reassigned, only to learn that the flying was transferred to Air Canada Rouge for operation. We have also been made aware the same actions are happening at Rouge.

We are concerned about the impact these changes may have on affected members, including disruptions to awarded schedules, changes to flying, loss of preferred pairings, personal and family care obligations and other potential consequences arising from reassignment.

The Union has already filed a policy grievance for Mainline flying (click HERE to view) regarding the Company’s practice of cancelling awarded Mainline flying and transferring that flying to Rouge. We are actively investigating these circumstances and will pursue all appropriate remedies available under the Collective Agreement.

Today we have filed a policy grievance for Rouge (click HERE to view) regarding the Company’s practice of cancelling awarded Rouge flying and transferring that flying to Mainline. We are actively investigating these circumstances and will pursue all appropriate remedies available under the Collective Agreement.

At the same time, we want to be clear that our responsibility is to protect the rights of all members represented by the Union, including both Mainline and Rouge Flight Attendants. Our concern is not with Rouge members performing work assigned to them by the Company, but rather with ensuring that any movement of flying between the operations is conducted in accordance with the Collective Agreement and that members are treated and their rights are respected.

If you have experienced any of the following, we would like to hear from you:
• An awarded pairing was coded as cancelled, and you were reassigned
• You were advised that the flying had been moved to Rouge or to Mainline
• You believe you suffered a loss of earnings, credit, schedule quality, or other negative impact because of the reassignment or
• You have information regarding the reason provided for the cancellation of your awarded pairing.

Please send us examples by emailing i.jovic@accomponent.ca and ensure to include “CHQ-26-63 – awarded flying moved to Rouge” or “CHQ-Rouge-26-18 – awarded flying moved to Mainline” in the subject line. Please also include the following information:
• Employee number;
• Date(s) of the affected pairing(s);
• Pairing number(s);
• Details of any communication you received regarding the cancellation; and
• The flying or reassignment you ultimately operated.
**Please send screenshots of your originally scheduled flying and what you ended up operating on reassignment. Please also forward entire email communication including original and final responses.

Member reports are essential in helping us fully assess the scope of this issue and document the impact on Flight Attendants across the system. Your information will assist us in advancing the grievance and ensuring that any violations of the Collective Agreement are properly addressed.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will keep members informed as the grievance process moves forward.

Govern yourselves accordingly,

Airline Division of CUPE Critical Incident and Stress Management (CISM) Program Update

Selection of Program Coordinators
After a competitive selection process, the Airline Division Council of Presidents (ADCP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Meagan McDonough and Sarah Wilmot to the position of Program Coordinators for the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Program.

Meagan McDonough
Meagan is driven by her personal experience following a critical incident, and the role that strong, supportive communities play in fostering resilience, well-being, and personal growth. With 14 years at Air Transat, including over a decade as a Flight Director, Meagan’s career in aviation has shaped a strong understanding of the demands placed on cabin crew and the importance of building strong support networks, both inside and outside of work. Beyond aviation, Meagan has extensive experience in the wellness space, designing and delivering programming in mental health, resilience, and peak performance, for both corporate and not-for-profit sectors. Meagan brings a background in Organizational Development, with training in Trauma-Informed Workplaces, and a focus on building organizational cultures where effective support systems ensure cabin crew are never left to navigate critical incidents on their own.

Sarah Wilmot
Sarah brings a unique perspective to the coordinator role with professional experience shaped by a career in both aviation and social advocacy. She has held positions within the municipal government, health care, and at various non-profit organizations. She started her aviation journey at Porter Airlines 9 years ago and is currently a Purser on their E2 fleet. She is motivated by the opportunity to bridge her passion for mental wellness and resilience to the complex environments and demands that cabin crew regularly face. She has a strong understanding of the harm that critical incidents can cause – physically, mentally and emotionally and is driven to cultivate and deliver a program that cabin crew can rely on to feel empowered and fully supported both before and after an incident occurs.

Please join us in welcoming Sarah and Meagan into their roles and supporting the upcoming launch of this initiative at your Locals.

Volunteer CISM Peer Representative Orientation Sessions
We would like to extend our gratitude to all members who attended the CISM Peer Representative orientation sessions. We know many members have been looking forward to updates on the development of our Critical Incident Stress Management program, and we appreciate your patience. While progress has continued behind the scenes, our rollout timeline was impacted as our training partner’s resources were necessarily focused on supporting a significant critical incident response over the past several months. Despite this delay, our commitment to building a strong and sustainable CISM program remains unchanged. We are now planning to begin peer representative training in the fall and are excited to share more details as we move closer to launch. Thank you for your continued interest, support, and enthusiasm as we work toward bringing this important program to our members. Once all peer representative applications have been reviewed, the Program Coordinators will reach out to you to schedule interviews with our Program Clinician and discuss next steps.

In solidarity,

Your Airline Division Council of Presidents
