DAYS SINCE WE BEGAN THE BARGAINING PROCESS. WE ARE UNITED AND WE WILL MAKE CHANGE.

CHQ-rouge-26-40 Violation of Article L55.20.03

The Union has been raising issues in regard to how performance meetings are generated, and what information is supplied.

The Collective Agreement clearly states:

“…If practicable, the Company shall provide the Employee with reasonable prior notice of the interview in writing informing the Employee of the alleged misdemeanour(s) and of his or her right to have a Union representative present…”

The Union has previously filed a grievance on the Air Canada Mainline side and now has a practice in place where the information required in the meeting letters will be present, we thought the same could move over to the Rouge side but have now been placed in the position to file a grievance.

The reality is that when the Company is calling you in for a meeting around performance, they are well aware what the “misdemeanour” is, the same applies for attendance related issues, if they are calling you in for attendance issues, they need to advise dates, issues etc.  Stating “overall attendance” with nothing further leaves one to wonder what they are concerned with noting, especially if they want to discuss specifics.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors, their families, and their communities.

It is also a day to recognize the painful and lasting impacts of the residential school system and the ongoing effects of colonialism on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada.

As union members, we believe in dignity, respect, equality, and solidarity. Reconciliation calls on all of us to listen, learn, reflect, and better understand the history and experiences of Indigenous peoples. It also requires an ongoing commitment to meaningful action.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples and communities.

In solidarity,
