DAYS SINCE WE BEGAN THE BARGAINING PROCESS. WE ARE UNITED AND WE WILL MAKE CHANGE.

A Message From Your Component Officers

As events around the world continue to evolve, including the conflict involving various regions, we recognize that uncertainty can weigh heavily. Global unrest, operational disruptions, and changes to assignments can create added stress, both professionally and personally.

Despite this, each day you don your uniform and report for duty. You continue to demonstrate the calm, professionalism, and strength that define our profession. We want to take a moment to acknowledge that.

Flight attendants have always answered the call during challenging times. Whether during global crises, operational disruptions, or moments of passenger distress, you are often the steady presence on board. You provide reassurance, medical assistance, leadership, and compassion, often all within a single flight. The skill set you bring to this role is complex, multifaceted, and truly unique.

For members navigating reassignment or schedule changes, we encourage you to refresh your understanding of the reassignment provisions on page 22 of the Air Canada Component Contract Guide which can be found HERE.

Crew Resource Management (CRM) remains one of our strongest tools during times of uncertainty. At its core, CRM is about effective communication, shared awareness, and ensuring everyone has the information necessary for safety both in flight and on layover. Supporting one another and maintaining open communication strengthens not only safety, but confidence.

This is also a good time to review layover safety information in ePub. A practical tip is to screenshot layover destination details in Globe, including important phone numbers, so they are readily accessible if needed.

Should you require assistance, please remember:

The Component and relevant committees continue to receive regular briefings regarding safety at destinations, including situations involving crews who experienced delays or were temporarily unable to depart. We are relieved to confirm that all members have been accounted for and are safe. The company has stated that its priority is to return all crews as swiftly as possible, when safe to do so, and they remain in contact with affected members.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, flight attendants have truly been on the front line. The work you perform is unlike any other in the workplace. When you wear the uniform, you become the face and voice of reassurance in environments filled with unknowns. We see this. We recognize it.

We encourage you to continue relying on one another and to embrace the strength found in collaboration and communication. As always, if you see something, say something. You are the eyes and ears of the operation, and your experience and judgment are invaluable.

Our EAP Committee recognizes that this may be a challenging time for some members. If global events are affecting your mental health, please know that support is available. Telus Health services are available 24/7, free of charge, and are completely confidential. If you prefer, we also encourage you to connect with a trusted peer.

You can review our latest EAP bulletin HERE for full contact information at every base, including office and cell numbers, as well as Telus details.

Above all, please remember, you are not alone. Your professionalism, resilience, and collective strength define this group. We are proud to represent you, and we remain committed to supporting you on every step of the way.
