DAYS SINCE WE BEGAN THE BARGAINING PROCESS. WE ARE UNITED AND WE WILL MAKE CHANGE.

Air Canada unilaterally reduced benefits for Rouge cabin crew – Grievance Won

As you may recall from our February 6, 2025, bulletin (Click HERE to view), Air Canada unilaterally reduced benefits for Rouge cabin personnel in July 2018 by (1) reducing the annual limit for certain benefits and (2) increasing the time before certain benefit limits reset. The Union filed a grievance challenging these reductions and won at arbitration. To comply with the award, Air Canada reinstated benefit levels, effective January 1, 2025.

Since the arbitration award, the Union and Air Canada have been in negotiations regarding retroactive compensation for members for the period between July 1, 2018, and December 31, 2024. We have now reached an agreement under which Air Canada will pay a total of $313,752.12 divided amongst cabin personnel who (1) were employed at Rouge for more than three months between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2024 and (2) are currently employed with Mainline or Rouge in the bargaining unit.

Members who meet these criteria will receive payments of between $18.35 and $360.08, prorated based on the number of months that they were with Air Canada between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2024.

The Union will be reaching out to all affected shortly to advise you of the amount you will be receiving within the next 90 days.

Thank you again to all members that assisted in this process to ensure we were able to move forward and have a successful outcome.

In solidarity,
