We want to address a recent banking error that has understandably caused concern.
Some members of Toronto Local 4092 experienced an issue where, instead of receiving their strike pay by electronic transfer, the same amount was mistakenly withdrawn from their bank accounts.
We want to be very clear:
- This error was limited to Local 4092 only.
- All other Locals were not affected.
- The Component had no role in this transaction. At no time was money withdrawn from members’ accounts and deposited into the Component’s account.
Here is what we understand:
- CUPE National sent the strike funds directly to each Local.
- It is the responsibility of each Local to distribute strike pay to their members.
- In this case, the funds were deposited into the Local 4092 bank account, managed by the Local Secretary-Treasurer.
If you are affected or have questions, please contact:
David Lee, Secretary-Treasurer, Local 4092

Local 4092 will be able to assist you directly.
We want to reassure members outside of Local 4092 that this issue is isolated. Each Local has its own bank account, and all received the same training from CUPE National on strike pay procedures.
In Solidarity,
Guillaume Leduc
Secretary-Treasurer, Air Canada Component of CUPE
