days until our Collective Agreement expires, we are preparing, we are united and we will make change.

Protect Our Right to Strike!

Tomorrow, 18 February, has been declared the International Day of Action for the Right to Strike.

Here in Canada trade unionists may think that we no longer need to worry about this very fundamental right.  But already the Saskatchewan government (and for sure others) is thinking out loud about invoking the ‘notwithstanding’ clause in the Charter of Rights to override the Supreme Court’s decision.

And, of course, around the world our sisters and brothers need and are asking for our support in their struggle to get the right to strike, to make it possible for trade unionists to withdraw their labour without fear of imprisonment or worse.

We all face a concerted effort by the employer representatives at the International Labour Organization to deny the legitimacy of the right to strike for all workers, everywhere.

Join the UFCW Canada online campaign to preserve the right to strike for all workers.  It takes just a few seconds.  Just go HERE.
