days until our Collective Agreement expires, we are preparing, we are united and we will make change.

A Message From The President – Your Help Is Needed

Dear members,

Our Communication Ambassadors initiative is in full swing! We now have over two dozen volunteer members from all bases who are participating in this project, and we are still welcoming new members every week. Would you like to be part of the team?

WHAT DO COMMUNICATION AMBASSADORS DO?

Ambassadors participate in a regularly-scheduled live video conference call with Component President Michel Cournoyer and occasionally other invited individuals who work at different levels at the Air Canada Component of CUPE. The Ambassadors receive direct updates from the President about a number of timely matters and issues, and then participate in an interactive dialogue which allows them to provide individual feedback, suggestions and observations from the members’ perspective, while also asking questions about any matter of import. In addition to providing us with invaluable first-person insight straight from the line, the Ambassadors are then well positioned to help spread factual news and updates to our wider community, encourage members to stay informed and engaged with what is happening with their Union, and help build a more organic relationship between the Union and its members.

NOTE: Communication Ambassadors are not tasked with answering any contractual questions, are are asked to steer members with these types of queries to their elected Local officers.

WHO ARE OUR COMMUNICATION AMBASSADORS?

The Ambassadors are engaged and concerned members, first and foremost. They are Flight Attendants and In-Charges who are interested in getting involved with their Union, and learning more about what really happens behind the scenes. Ambassadors are individuals from all seniorities and all bases who want to help their Union by providing feedback, and by directly diffusing facts and news to their peers while at work, in person. We are looking for intelligent, creative, well-intentioned, dynamic communicators and community-builders, individuals with an sincere and eager perspective on their work environment, and a willingness to help improve our Union’s ability to reach its membership.

Our next video conferences are scheduled for September 21st and October 15th – if you are interested in becoming a member of our team, please send a short email with your name, employee number, base, contact information, and a quick explanation of why you think you would be a good Communication Ambassador to: communications@accomponent.ca.

In solidarity,

Michel Cournoyer
President, Air Canada Component of CUPE
