days until our Collective Agreement expires, we are preparing, we are united and we will make change.

Happy Labour Day

This Labour Day your CUPE Air Canada Component Officers invite you to give a moment’s pause to celebrate the progress and many gains that the labour movement has historically made on behalf of all workers in Canada.
We encourage you to “celebrate” but are nonetheless humbled by the realization of the many labour challenges that you still face in your current working environment every day.
However, we would like to point out that your Union’s very existence is an achievement within itself. Despite push-back from Corporations throughout the ages, Canadian Unions have achieved great strides through consistent advancements in pensions, equity, benefits, regulation of working conditions, Health and Safety and much more. Unions across Canada have taken their rightful place as a force to be reckoned with and a voice of the worker. This was recently reflected as we welcome the West Jet Flight Attendants into our family of CUPE.
We invite you to take a moment on September 3rd and remember those who valiantly fought and negotiated for so many of the rights we take advantage of each and every day we go to work.
We also ask you to consider embracing the Labour Day challenge of devoting 4 hours a month of your time to volunteer to help your Union, we always need help and you, our members, have such a vast array of talents we could use!
Most of all though, we invite you to be proud of the work you do and the example you set to all Flight Attendants in Canada through your solidarity and determination to uphold your rights as proud Canadian Workers.
HAPPY LABOUR DAY!
In solidarity,
