As per section B.12.5 of the Air Canada Component of CUPE Bylaws, and section B.5.1(c) of the CUPE Constitution, we are providing you with sixty (60) days’ notice that a Referendum vote to amend the Air Canada Component of CUPE Bylaws will be taking place. The Referendum vote will begin on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 9:00 am (EDT), and will close on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 12:00 pm (EDT).
The Component Bylaw Committee has prepared a package outlining the Bylaw amendments, click HERE to view. Alternately, the package can be found on the Component website at www.accomponent.ca. You can also request a copy from your Local Office. As there are multiple proposed Bylaw amendments to be voted on, it is strongly suggested that you have a copy of the package with you when you are voting. The existing Bylaws, should you want to refer to them, are also available at www.accomponent.ca.
The package has been separated into four (4) sections:
- Notification and Compliance
- Expenses
- Duties & Remuneration
- Trustees & Transparency
EACH amendment and change will be voted on individually. The procedures to amend Component By-laws can be found in Section 13 in accordance with Appendix “B”.

Voting Procedures:
Voting will open on Monday, April 8, 2019, at 9:00am EDT, and will close on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at 12:00pm EDT.
IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: You will receive a letter, by regular mail, directly from Simply Voting approximately one week prior to the vote opening. This letter will contain a new Elector ID and Password, along with detailed instructions on how to vote online and by telephone. This same information will be e-mailed to you on the morning of the first day of voting.
You have the option of voting by web, or by phone, as per Component Bylaws. You will need your new Elector ID and Password to access the system.

Once you have submitted your vote, the Simply Voting system will issue a printable electronic receipt. If you are voting by phone, you can only access your electronic receipt by logging into the Simply Voting system online.
