Rouge Win – Lead Premium HOS and Sick Pay

Dear Rouge members,
We have some good news to report regarding policy grievance CHQ-rouge-17-04 (Lead Premium – HOS and Sick Pay). Arbitrator Nyman ruled in favour of the Union.
This grievance was based on the fact that prior to January 1, 2016, the Company paid the lead rate to crew members who booked off or were held out of service for a pairing they were scheduled to operate as lead. After this date, the Company ceased this practice and instead paid the regular rate of pay.
What does this mean for you?

If you booked off sick or were held out of service for a pairing that you were scheduled to operate as lead from January 1, 2016, you will be entitled to receive the 15% lead flight attendant rate of pay.  This payment will continue until bargaining for the April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022 Collective Agreement concludes since CUPE will have an opportunity to pursue the issue at the bargaining table, and possibly interest arbitration, at that time, if it so desires. We recommend that you take note of times when you were affected by this both in the past and going forward for your own reference. We will communicate with you further when we have confirmation of when this correction will be paid out.
In solidarity,
