Thermometer Keychains Are Available!

In past years, we have heard your concerns about hot cabin temperatures. Following an initiative of our brothers and sisters in the U.S., the Union has purchased keychain thermometers and set up a quick and easy way of keeping us in the loop about cabin heat, in addition to any obligatory company reports.

These thermometers may provide an indication of when cabin temperature is reaching or has risen above the maximum allowable temperature of 29 degrees Celsius*. To use, ensure the thermometer has been exposed to the cabin air and away from other heat sources for approx. 10 minutes.

Available at your Local Union offices. Pick one up!

* Aviation Occupational Safety and Health Regulations (AOHSR) 7.1:
If reasonably practicable, the air temperature on board an aircraft shall be maintained at a level of not less than 18°C and not more than 29°C.

Note: Transport Canada has previously stated that it is reasonable for the company to provide heating/cooling equipment at its gates.
