Updated Alcohol And Drug Policy

Dear members,
The Union was advised by the company in late August of its intent to implement a revised drug and alcohol policy in response to the impending legalization of Marijuana and cannabis products on October 17, 2018. We immediately sought legal advice from two respected law firms, and reached out to our sisters and brothers at the other Air Canada Unions.
Given the far-reaching and profound implications that it may have on employees, the Council of Unions (ACPA, UNIFOR, ACC CUPE, CALDA and the IAMAW) collectively approached the company regarding a host of concerns and requested the opportunity to meet with senior leadership to discuss them. We hope to have this meeting scheduled in the near future.
