THE COMPANY WAS PROVIDING CREW WITH INCORRECT SAFETY INFORMATION REGARDING MOBIL JET OIL II
In early 2026, it came to the Union’s attention that Air Canada Mainline had listed an alternate version of the safety data sheets (SDS) for Mobil Jet Oil II in its workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS).
Following the publication of the Union’s bulletin titled Don’t Be Gaslit on Fume Events (click HERE to read it), the SDS sheets for this engine oil have been updated in the company’s systems.
YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW
It’s the employer’s legal duty to ensure the safety of workers, and this includes your RIGHT TO KNOW. More specifically, you have the right to the CORRECT information related to any workplace exposure so that you can seek appropriate medical care.
IF YOU WERE IMPACTED BY THIS INCORRECT INFORMATION
If you have been in a fume event and referred to the PREVIOUS SDS sheets provided by the company:
- File a Health and Safety Complaint E-Report documenting how this may have impacted your ability to seek appropriate medical care.
- Let the Union Know
- Provide any written advice from the company to you that included the incorrect SDS sheet and/or information.
- Follow-up with your doctor if they were provided the incorrect SDS sheet and/or information.
