(for Mainline Members only)
We have had a few issues surfacing in the last week. We want to bring your attention to them.
GLOBE NOTIFICATION REMINDER – Not an official means of communication with the Company
As the Union has communicated to its members in the past, we would like to remind you that a Globe Notification is NOT an official means of communication. It recently has come to the Union’s attention that a member was given a 3-day suspension for relying on Globe as an official means of communication when their flight was cancelled. As we all know, it is Crew Scheduling’s job to call us to advise if there are delays or cancellations on our flights, and if we do not hear from them, we are to report for duty at the airport as scheduled. Do not risk discipline for following Globe, the company needs to contact you with scheduling changes.
MEETING LETTERS – and no information advising you of the specific reasons why the Company wishes to meet with you.
Please note that as per Article 14.02, when the Company wishes to meet with you, their letter that must be sent prior to your meeting should specifically outline the details and reasons they wish to meet with you. This should also include a clear indication of your right to Union Representation. You should not be left trying to remember what may have occurred some time ago. They must clearly indicate what behaviour or actions they wish to address.
We filed a policy grievance in the past on this very thing. It was focused on the company’s failure to provide this very important and contractually required information. This grievance CHQ-23-66 is going forward to arbitration on December 2, 2025, before Arbitrator Jesse Kugler.
If you receive a meeting letter that does not give you enough information to understand exactly what the Company wishes to discuss with you, please immediately email w.lesosky@accomponent.ca and send him the letter you received for follow up. You should know why the Company wants to speak to you in order to be prepared and so that your Union can also prepare to represent you in this meeting. For example, if your letter states that the Company wants to meet with you for “Code of Conduct”, or an “SOP Violation” or “breach of social media policy” but no other details are provided like the date, what flight/pairing this occurred on, or what post, what date, what social media platform, etc., this is a violation of the Collective Agreement. Please speak to your local representatives as well as they will be accompanying you through this process.
DISCIPLINE BEING ISSUED AS RETALIATION FOR STRIKE ACTIVITY
We have been receiving emails from members stating that they believe they are being targeted and issued discipline for having participated in strike related activity. Please note we are reviewing all possible scenario’s and will keep you updated on our review and next steps. Please reach out to us at contact@accomponent.ca if you believe you have been impacted by this.
Govern yourselves accordingly, in solidarity,
