DAYS SINCE WE BEGAN THE BARGAINING PROCESS. WE ARE UNITED AND WE WILL MAKE CHANGE.

OHS Summer 2025 Update

In the most recent bargaining survey, you identified these as the main concerns:

  • 91% unpaid work
  • 88% Wages and cost of living
  • 72% Scheduling and fatigue
  • 41% Feeling respected by management
  • 34% Safety and security

ALL of these things have a significant impact your physical and/or psychological safety at work.

It’s stressful when you’re unable to pay bills or provide for your family, and this follows you into the workplace.

If your work rules allow for flight assignments that promote fatigue, you’re more likely to make mistakes or be injured.

If you feel disrespected by management or that the company isn’t “walking the talk” on safety, our overall culture suffers because people like you are less likely to feel valued and empowered as workers.

YOUR bargaining committee is fighting for your rights RIGHT NOW. They’re pushing for improvements to all of these things. By supporting your bargaining and mobilization teams, you’re moving the dial on safety.

Get informed.

Get involved.

Be a part of positive change.

For example, our members continue to share stories of being pressured to board hot aircraft. KNOW that the Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Regulations are clear: the temperature onboard should be between 18 and 29 degrees Celsius. The company has installed systems on its aircraft to monitor cabin temperature and has policies in place requiring that cabins be brought down to acceptable temperatures prior to boarding. REMEMBER that your safety and our customers’ safety is FIRST AND ALWAYS. Be confident and assert it. It is unacceptable for anyone or any department to ever pressure workers to accept potentially unsafe conditions, especially when they are explicitly outlined in the regulations and company procedures.
