We have received some questions related to Pay Equity and wanted to provide a high level overview of the information shared to date as well as the appropriate contact. In February 2026 a Pay Equity Update was posted on the ACAeronet portal > HRConnex > Pay Equity. In conjunction with Arbitrator Knopf’s decision HERE in which she stated “…if there is any gender inequality in this workplace, the forum to address that concern is the Parties’ existing Pay Equity Committee and/or statutory Pay Equity process.” She recognized that there may be inequities related to wages. Given that fact, and the importance of this issue, we wanted to provide an update and let you know where to find more information.
Pay Equity legislation is mandated by the Federal Government, it involves a dynamic and detailed process between management, non-union and union committee members that represent all employees at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge. It is a comprehensive and complicated undertaking which involves dedicated attention from all contributors.
The examination of all the job classes and evaluation of each job is a laborious process and the workload is heavy and confidential. The Pay Equity Committee certainly understands its importance and is investing the necessary time required and will carry out the process to its conclusion.
The Committee must adhere to the Pay Equity Act in its entirety, and as outlined in the update, an extension request was granted by the Office of the Pay Equity Commissioner not exceeding March 3, 2027, with a requirement to provide regular updates to the Pay Equity Commissioner.
