As many of you at Mainline saw in the April 30th Globe message, starting May 1, 2026, there is a new procedure when providing meals to our pilots. It is now a “service”.
The pilots now have fruit and dessert added to their meals, on the Canada-outbound international flights. It is their request that this will be a second service to the pilots and is to be served separately.
The Union has received a lot of feedback on this. We encourage you to reach out with your comments to IFSCabinExperience@aircanada.ca where they will be noted. We encourage you to copy contact@accomponent.ca as well, so that we too can follow up.
Some of the concerns we have received from members is that this additional service is cutting into the premium cabin service. It is causing some confusion between the pilot group and our members. This is yet another improvement to the flight deck meals while we have not seen meaningful and healthy changes to our members who have a very physical job. Good nutrition is such a valuable part of your health and well being and improvements to the onboard meals is long overdue for our members.
