Responses will be used for the sole purpose of research related to critical incident and critical incident stress reactions and their subsequent book off or psychological response behaviours.
You are free to decide not to take part in this study, and if you decide this, then there will be no negative consequences for you.
Please refrain from providing any identifying information in closed or open-ended questions, such as Name or Employee Number.
We understand that the nature of these questions may be overwhelming to some, or may illicit unwanted emotional responses. If you feel that recall of the critical incident(s), or its reactions is bringing forth unwanted emotional response, please discontinue participation and seek assistance or support.
The overall aim of this membership survey is to determine whether Air Canada Component of CUPE Flight Attendants, with a higher psychological stress and critical incident exposure in the workplace, are more likely to submit a workers compensation claim or short-term disability / medical claim / book off than employees who are not exposed to the same nature and extent of critical incidents.
The benefit of this research seeks to highlight the importance of appropriate support and awareness related to critical incidents and CIS reactions and quantify or compare the subsequent time out of the workplace due to the nature or intensity of such incidents.
Please note the survey is a total of 17 questions and will take approximately 5 minutes.
While participation is consenting to the storage and use of the collected anonymous data for educational and research purposes, minor harm such as post traumatic recall, or feelings of discomfort may arise as a result. If this is the case, please immediately discontinue the survey and reach out to our Employee Assistance Program Peer Support representatives (EAP-CC-PAC). Privacy and Data Disclosure. This data will be collected, password protected and stored on the online platform Qualtrics, for a period of two years, to be permanently deleted off the platform in April 2028. The data, as exported, anonymous, will be used in the SPSS Statistics Software to analyze statistical significance. The data file .spss will also be deleted from the researchers computer upon completion of analysis.
