days until our Collective Agreement expires, we are preparing, we are united and we will make change.

Bargaining Committee Update – 1

Your Bargaining Committee has just concluded another week of meetings where we completed a final review of the proposals we will be submitting to the employer.

Together with our external legal counsel, CUPE National Researcher, CUPE National Communication Representative, CUPE National Staff Representative, Component Grievance Committee Chair and Component Executive Assistant, your Bargaining Committee, comprised of the Local Presidents and Component Officers, engaged in a fulsome review of priorities identified by the membership through bargaining survey results as well as the feedback received through roadshows and membership meetings. These priorities set out the framework for the development of proposals and have guided us throughout the process.

We are confident that what we will be tabling represents the priorities identified by the membership – changes we have long been waiting to move forward on. The proposals will deliver not only solid gains for all members but much needed improvement to collective agreement language to ensure clarity in meaning and intent.

Communication and membership engagement is crucial in achieving an agreement that meets the needs of our collective. We are encouraged by the momentum we see in member mobilization and the determination of the membership to do whatever is necessary to secure hard-earned increases in compensation and working conditions. We have heard you loud and clear and so has the employer.

As we did during the re-openers, we are committed to maintaining a flow of communication and will update you as we have new information to report on the progress of negotiations.

Please continue to show your solidarity, wear your Union Pin, and remember, whether you are Junior, Senior, Rouge, Mainline, Flight Attendant, Lead or Service Director, these negotiations are for YOU, and we will be representing each of YOU at the table.

In solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee
