CHQ-16-14 Mandatory Name Brevets

As you may be aware, there have been issues in the past which went to grievance relating to the Brevets which are worn as a part of the Company uniform.
Arbitrator Davie issued an award on August 2, 2016 which can be found HERE.
Following the issuance of her award, new brevets were provided by the Company. The Union took issue with the fact that these brevets did not reflect the position of Service Director or Flight Attendant.  This was an issue raised by our members as you felt you were not necessarily identifiable.  Your Union brought this matter back before Arbitrator Louisa Davie on March 22, 2019.
Her latest award can be found HERE and states that, in her view, the removal of the position title was a violation of her August 2, 2016 award and that:
Unless the parties agree otherwise in their negotiations for the 2019-2022 collective agreement, the Employer shall, on or before September 1, 2019, provide employees with a text-based position title brevet. The Employer can do so by (a) redesigning the current brevet to include a text-based position title, or (b) designing a new brevet which includes a text-based position title, or (c) designing a text-based position title brevet to be worn together with the first name brevet.
The Union is very happy with this award and will monitor its progress.
In solidarity,
