The Union is currently seeking members who would have an interest in joining the following committees at the Component level:
Benefit Committee
Your Component Benefit Committee works through various benefit related inquiries and assists the membership in understanding their benefit entitlements. Bilingual Committee
Your Component Bilingual Committee is tasked with ensuring that Canada’s official languages act is upheld by the employer and that bilingual issues affecting the members are addressed. For more information please do not hesitate to reach out to us at contact@accomponent.ca.
Bylaw Review Committee
Your Component Bylaw Review Committee reviews the Component Bylaws and presents Bylaw amendments and/or additions to the Component Executive, which will make final recommendations to be adopted by a Membership referendum vote. Diversity Committee
Our Component Diversity Committee is an important part of our overall goal of integrating membership initiatives and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all our members. The committee will also advocate for our marginalized members in the workplace and manage issues related to discrimination and challenges associated with ethnic or racial bias. Education Committee
The Component Education Committee is a committee that we feel is important and will be so valuable as we move closer to full collective bargaining in 2025. Education and knowledge are a relevant part of solidifying a solid base of knowledge amongst the membership. Sharing this information amongst ourselves is also a grass roots approach to taking back our power in collective bargaining. New Aircraft Committee
Participate with the Company in obtaining information from the manufacturer on overall and specific galley design, assess safety of design and equipment and give a written report of your findings, with your recommendations, to the Component President. Rouge Pension Committee
The Pension Committee is a joint Committee with the Company and is responsible to ensure the financial and administrative operations of the pension plan is in accordance with the provisions of the pension plan. We currently have a vacancy on the pension plan specific to members enrolled in the Rouge Pension Plan, which is anyone who’s original hiring company is at Air Canada Rouge. Women’s Committee
Your Component Women’s Committee does the very valuable work of increasing the participation of women in the Union at all levels and educating them about Women’s issues and rights. This also includes corresponding with members who have questions about maternity, breastfeeding, and many other women’s issues.
