NOTICE OF UPCOMING LOCAL 4098 ELECTIONS

As the Bylaw amendments that were accepted by the membership in the July 2018 Referendum are still in the process of being approved by the CUPE National President’s Office, the current Bylaws, that were amended in December 2016, will be in effect for this election.
Here is a breakdown of the positions available at Local 4098 (Rouge):

Local President
– OR –
Local Vice-President
– OR –
Local Secretary-Treasurer
– OR –
one (1) of three (3) Toronto Base Vice-Presidents*
– OR –
one (1) of two (2) Montreal Base Vice-Presidents*
– OR –
one (1) of three (3) Trustee positions per Local

In accordance with the Air Canada Component Bylaws, anyone wishing to be nominated should adhere to the following information:

C.3.1
Notice of Local Officer Elections
Beginning in 2019 Local Officer Elections shall commence at 09:00 EST on February 10th and close at 12:00 noon EST on February 24th. Terms shall be as follows:
(a) President, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer elections shall be held every two (2) years.
(b) A trustee election shall be held every year.

C.4.1
Nomination Procedures for Local Officer Elections
Members who desire to be nominated for a Local Officer position (Local President, Local Vice-President, Local Secretary-Treasurer, or Local Trustee) shall file nomination papers, to be received by the Chairperson of the Component Tabulating Committee by December 15th in the calendar year preceding the Local Officer Elections. The Component Tabulating Committee shall have full responsibility for voting arrangements in accordance with these Bylaws.
C.4.2 A candidate may be nominated for only one (1) position and in doing so may only solicit signatures for one (1) intended position.  Candidates shall disclose their full name and intended position clearly on the nomination papers prior to soliciting signatures.
C.4.3 Nomination forms as provided by the Component Tabulating Committee, must have at least one hundred (100) signatures for eligible voters on the Local’s “Membership List” or signatures from 10% of the Local’s eligible voters, whichever is the lesser.

* Base Vice-Presidents’ nomination forms must have at least 100 signatures from eligible voters on their Base’s “Membership List” or signatures from 10% of their Base’s eligible voters, whichever is the lesser.

It is recommended that you read the complete instruction package.
IN ORDER TO AVOID CANDIDACY INVALIDATION, DO NOT USE COMPONENT NOMINATION PAPERS FOR THE LOCAL NOMINATIONS.

DEADLINE:  Completed original nomination sheets must be received no later than, December 15, 2018, at 16:00 EST at the following address:

Nomination sheets received after December 15, 2018 at 16:00 EST will NOT be accepted. The Tabulating Committee recommends sending your documentation by registered mail to ensure timely delivery and receipt.
