days until our Collective Agreement expires, we are preparing, we are united and we will make change.

President’s Message – January 2009

I am writing to say farewell as my term ends as Component President on January 31, 2009.  I would just like to say that I feel very privileged to have been able to represent you for the last two years.  I did my job to the best of my abilities and always kept the interests of the membership ahead of anything else.

To be honest, my term of office was not without its difficulties.  However, I believe that during my term the Union managed to defend its interests and the Collective Agreement with a large degree of success and also achieved some notable victories.

In closing, I wish the next Executive the best of luck in bargaining and in dealing with whatever hurdles they will face during the next two years.  I hope at some point in the future to continue my work with the Union in whatever capacity I can best serve the membership.

Thank you all, once again, for the opportunity to represent you for the last two years.

Warmest Regards and In Unity,

Lesley Swann

President, Air Canada Component of CUPE
