First Week Of Bargaining

This week, the first official meetings between the Union and the Company in this round of bargaining with Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge are taking place.

The Union and the employer have presented their opening statements and sought clarity where needed. We are fully prepared for this process and our goal is to achieve the best possible outcome for each of you.  We are your voice at the table.

In solidarity,

Remembering 9/11

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people perished at the World Trade Center in New York, at the Pentagon in Virginia, and in Pennsylvania.

We would like to take some time to reflect on this and to remember those who were lost.  Our fallen colleagues gave their lives on this day and showed great acts of courage.

As they were trained to, Flight Attendants Betty Ong and Madeline Amy Sweeney helped authorities, and the information they provided was instrumental in identifying who had carried out these atrocities. Our gratitude and heartfelt sorrow goes out to the crew members on the affected flights and the families of all of those lost on this historic day.

This time and reflection also offers us an opportunity to remember how crucial our contributions are to the overall safety of a flight. It is a time to be proud of the work that we do each and every day we put on our uniform.

Be proud of what you do, reflect on the past and move forward with confidence in your knowledge, wisdom and experience.

In solidarity,

A330 – TAP Configured Aircraft

We are aware of the A330 – TAP Configured aircraft and the lack of means on board to have your contractually negotiated crew rest.  This aircraft is in operation typically out of our YUL and YVR hubs.  We are aware that many of you have filled out Health and Safety concern forms to express the lack of high comfort seats and curtains as well as no last sold seats to take your breaks in.

Discussions with the Company, the first step in resolving an issue, have taken place, and at this time the Union feels a grievance is warranted as changes were not reflective for the September block month as we were hoping.

The current A330 – TAP aircrafts are set to go for retrofitting this October, and Air Canada has confirmed that L2 doors will be equipped with High Comfort Jumpseats and curtains, like the rest of the A330’s in the Air Canada fleet.  We completely understand the frustration in this not being corrected in a timely manner, as the internal customers of Air Canada we see tremendous value in receiving your contractual rest, being alert, and available to our customers.  We trust that Air Canada will also see the benefit and block off seats that will enable this.

Please continue to send in any reports of loss in contractual breaks to your local offices with a copy of the PIL.

If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out.
